Day 11: Saco to Wolf Point

I'm glad to get out of Saco. Not a great night, my back was really warm and the air conditioning didn't get very cold. Also, the motel was located in an alleyway that smelled like urine.
On the bright side, it looked like the temperature was gonna be nice an cool today... in Alaska. The prediction was 90º for the high. I desperately hoped it was an overestimate.

To pile on the list of not so great things about Central/Eastern Montana, the number of bugs that seemed to be around at all times was unprecedented. I can't stop for 5 minutes without being swarmed by mosquitos. The first checkpoint was in Glasgow. I went for a run and although it was in the mid to high 80s, I would have rather been covered most of my skin. By noon, I had over a dozen bites on my legs. They weren't small either. These are M&M sized bites.

Subway was the lunch stop for today. The cooler containing supplies for snacks and whatnot was getting a bit gross, so I decided to dump it, clean it and get new ice. By noon the temperature had increased to 94º. I found myself behind a catholic church using the water spicket and filling the cooler with ajax soap and water. Today was the first time I used the air conditioning the entire trip. The cabin of the car was hitting 100º.

The latter part of the ride took us through a Native American land. The road was newly paved and great to ride on. Other than that, there was no new scenery to be noted. The road spit us out into the town of Odwala. I stopped at the local bar to use the toilet and next to the juke box. I saw a sign made from Sharpie and Cardboard that read: NO RAP MUSIC. It reminded me of the scene from Talladega Nights where Jean Girard plays Jazz music in the bar and everybody flips out.

The final destination for the day was Wolf Point. It, like many of the towns we passed, advertised their highschool with pride with signs saying "This is (insert mascot here) Country". After another 100 mile day, the boys were hungry. Besides a McDonalds, only 1 restaurant was open that was not associated with a Motel/Casino deal, so we went there. It's safe to say that nearly all the food served was simply warmed up from frozen bags purchased at the supermarket. Yuck. Dissatisfied, Will ate a whole pint of FroYo half baked ice cream and watched netflix before falling asleep around 10. My back was beginning to itch a bit as I hit the hay around 11.
