Bike Trip Prep

A day of travel with Will started with at O’Hare Int’l Airport. The flight was delayed and we almost lost our seats due to overbooking. It was a bit turbulent. We arrived at Seattle/Tacoma Airport and were picked up by Wes immediately.

The west coast portion of the trip would be from Anacortes, WA to La Crescent, MN. The duo had done the midwestern portion of the Northern Tier trail earlier in the summer. The eastern portion is from Rensselaer, IN to Bar Harbor, ME.

Will and Wes had very different bicycle choices for their trip. Will had a new Carbon Roubaix with ultegra components and disc breaks. It's light as a feather and fitted with 700x25cc tires. Wes was rocking a more classic steel framed Bianchi Volpe fitted with standard Tiagra components and rear pannier rack. Wes brought his extra road bike just in case anything went awry; a Litespeed Firense: titanium frame, carbon fork and ultegra components.

On the drive out, you could see the Seattle skyline. It was pretty cool. Overall, I'm just really stoked to get started tomorrow.
